RE

At Cranbrook Primary School, Religious Education plays a significant part in pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

Our RE curriculum intends:

  • That young pupils are able to understand themselves within the context of a diverse society, so that they are equipped to be active citizens with the confidence to engage with peers whose background is different from their own.

  • To encourage respect and open-mindedness towards different faiths and beliefs.

  • That pupils, through an enquiry approach, develop an understanding for expression of beliefs and cultural practices.

  • That pupils understand the necessity for demonstrating mutual respect.

  • That we strive for increasing harmony between people from different backgrounds.

  • That each year group makes a visit to a religious place of worship.

  • That assemblies and performances provide a celebratory approach to the main religious events for our school community.

Parents/carers have a legal right to withdraw their child from Religious Education. It is always hoped that here at Cranbrook we can find a way to keep all children involved in RE. Should a parent/carers wish to do so, they must firstly request a meeting with the Headteacher to discuss the concerns in order to come to an agreement.
